On Saturday evening, it was suddenly unclear to Oregon Duck fans when Dante Moore would see the field again this year, as the quarterback was loaded onto a stretcher and into the back of an ambulance following a scary concussion after being hit while sliding to the turf.
A few days later, though, it appears that Moore is recovering and is eager to get back on the field.
That doesn't mean, however, that we should expect to see him anytime soon. On Monday morning, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning went on "Wake Up Barstool" and gave an update on his QB, saying that Moore is in "recovery mode," but is eager to get back on the field.
"I was able to see him yesterday, he's doing much better," Lanning said. "Obviously, it's a really serious injury, and you
know from that standpoint. But he's in recovery mode right now. We'll continue to evaluate him and make sure that he's doing the best for himself. He's the kind of guy that wants to, you know, I think shortly after he's like, 'Let me get back out there.' That's the kind of guy he's wired. This is where we've got to protect him from himself a little bit and make sure we do what's best for him. But certainly, there's kind of a game-changing moment in that game where our team came together and I thought they handled that situation extremely well."
Moore posted a message on Instagram Monday afternoon, thanking his teammates, the fans, and the community for all of their well wishes over the past couple of days. He stated that it has been a tough time accepting what happened, but he closed things out with an encouraging message for Oregon fans: "I'll be back soon."
What "soon" really means is very much up in the air, but there's no question that Moore is trying to return.
