The Oregon Ducks started to look like an old version of themselves on Saturday, but despite that, they are still fighting to get back into the rankings.
After a comeback 34-26 win over the formerly ranked No. 20 Northwestern Wildcats on Saturday afternoon, Oregon remains outside of the US LBM Coaches Poll. Northwestern fell to No. 23 in the rankings with the loss.
Oregon did fall in the "others receiving votes" category, where they would line up as the No. 31 team in the nation.
The Ducks fell out of the top 25 for the first time in the Dan Lanning era last week following their loss to the Illinois Fighting Illini on the road, a loss that seemed to all but squash their hopes of competing for a spot in the College Football Playoff. However, with
the chaos that took place on Saturday — namely Ohio State's loss to USC on the road — there technically remains a chance that they could find a way into the Big Ten Championship game and grab a spot in the postseason.
A lot needs to happen in order for that path to clear, though, so for now, the Ducks will just put their heads down and head to Columbus, where they are slated to face the No. 10 Ohio State Buckeyes on the road this coming week in a game that could sway the season for both teams.
