When watching NFL RedZone on a Sunday morning and afternoon, it's impossible not to see numerous former Oregon Ducks making plays all throughout the seven-hour broadcast.
In the early window, there was Marcus Mariota quarterbacking the Washington Commanders, tight end Kenyon Sadiq destroying the Detroit Lions defense and Jevon Holland picking off a pass that secured a victory for the New York Giants. In the afternoon window, Juwan Johnson reached the end zone multiple times and Bucky Irving squeaking his way up the field on the ground and in the receiving game for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Then, Sunday Night Football brought a Bo Nix masterpiece, as the former Ducks signal-caller led a 16-point comeback victory in front of the nation. Monday Night Football brought Dillon
Thieneman his first career interception.
It just didn't stop for the Oregon alumni in the NFL, similar to how it is every week in the league. Here is Week 3's edition of how pro Ducks performed this week in the NFL.
QB Marcus Mariota — Washington Commanders
Starting his first game this season in relief of the injured Jayden Daniels, Marcus Mariota was excellent against the reigning Super Bowl-champion Seattle Seahawks. The 2014 Heisman Trophy winner completed 19-of-31 passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns while putting the game away with a patented read-option keeper for nine yards on third down, leading the Commanders to a 33-31 victory.
TE Kenyon Sadiq — New York Jets
Kenyon Sadiq produced by far his best game as a pro, catching seven passes for 105 yards and an incredible touchdown catch amid multiple Detroit Lions defenders. The Jets were taken down, however, losing 31-24 and dropping to 1-2.
TE Juwan Johnson — New Orleans Saints
Juwan Johnson followed up Sadiq's strong performance with one of his own, recording eight catches for 53 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the New Orleans Saints. However, Johnson's game-ending fumble aided the Las Vegas Raiders in their 35-27 win over the Saints.
DL DeForest Buckner — Indianapolis Colts
The 23-year-old DeForest Buckner turned back the clock right when the Indianapolis Colts needed him, as he totaled seven tackles, 1.5 sacks and a run stuff against the Houston Texans in the team's 19-17 victory, avoiding a daunting 0-3 start to the year.
S Dillon Thieneman — Chicago Bears
Thieneman recorded his first career interception on Monday night, wiping away points from the Philadelphia Eagles as he picked off the pass in the end zone. He also added six tackles in the Chicago Bears' 27-7 victory.
QB Bo Nix — Denver Broncos
In what was arguably the game of the week, Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos went into halftime of Sunday Night Football down 16-0 to the Los Angeles Rams. They proceeded to score 30 points in the second half, with Nix ending the game going 17-of-34 for 186 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while running in the game-winning touchdown. The Broncos won, 30-26 in a thriller.
S Jevon Holland — New York Giants
Jevon Holland was back at it in Week 3, making another standout play for the New York Giants. With the Tennessee Titans down 12-7 in the final minutes and threatening in the red zone, Holland picked off quarterback Cam Ward, effectively winning the game for the Giants. He also added two tackles and two pass deflections in the victory. Holland's three interceptions are tied for the league high.
S Evan Williams — Green Bay Packers
Evan Williams has been a tackling machine early in the season and that was no different on Thursday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons. Despite the 35-14 loss, Williams tied for the team-high with 10 tackles.
QB Justin Herbert — Los Angeles Chargers
The struggles continued for Justin Herbert, as he completed 20-of-34 passes for 226 yards, a touchdown and an interception in the 24-16 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The Los Angeles Chargers are now 0-3 with three disappointing defeats and now face an uphill battle to make the playoffs.
DL Derrick Harmon — Pittsburgh Steelers
Derrick Harmon made his best play as a pro on Sunday, strip-sacking Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow in the Pittsburgh Steelers' 30-27 victory, their second win of the season.
