Once is a scare, but twice is a problem. The Oregon Ducks couldn't survive a road test in Stillwater and fell to Oklahoma State, 39-31, in one of the biggest upsets in college football history. The Ducks didn't just lose; they were thoroughly beaten by the Cowboys on both sides of the ball, particularly on offense.
The Ducks only had one snap in the red zone, which came thanks to an interception by the Oregon defense. Dante Moore turned in his worst showing as a Duck, and multiple receivers dropped passes. He did toss a pair of touchdowns, including a beauty to Dakorien Moore over the shoulder, but he was tense throughout and struggled to make decisions quickly and took four sacks.
Oregon couldn't run the ball either. Jordon Davison left the game
with an undisclosed injury, and while Dierre Hill Jr. had brief bursts, his fumble ultimately sealed Oregon's fate in the fourth quarter. Overall, nothing went well for the Ducks on offense, and it left many fans questioning the playcalling of new offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer once again.
There is no room for excuses anymore, as the Ducks' season is suddenly on life support following the shocking defeat. Oregon will need to show some signs of life this week against Portland State before heading back out on the road for a big test against USC.
