The Oregon Ducks stumbled out of the gates before re-grouping and finishing strong against the Boise State Broncos in Week 1, winning 34-27. For the No. 2 team in the AP poll, it was far from the sort of performance that proves to the nation of their legitimacy as a top-two team in college football.
With clear national title expectations, the Ducks had flashes of showing title-caliber talent and execution, but it was much too few and far between. More often then not, they were playing at or below Boise State's level — a very solid, above-average team with their own hopes of making the College Football Playoff as the Group of Six representative.
But the difference between the two teams is that the Broncos aren't competing for a national title.
The Ducks are, and are held to a much higher standard. Sure, they're 1-0, but it's a muddy, murky 1-0 rather than a convincing 1-0. Maybe it'll prove to be a blessing in disguise, as Dan Lanning will extract motivation out of this game, leading to faster starts and blowout wins to come.
While there's even a likelihood to that statement, it doesn't translate to FanDuel Sportsbooks' national title odds. The Ducks dropped in their post-Week 1 odds, but how far? Let's get into it.
