The Boise State Broncos' trip to Eugene for their Week 1 matchup against the No. 2 Oregon Ducks has not gone as planned.
Scheduled to arrive in the early afternoon on Friday, the Broncos' team plane made multiple passes at the runway of the Eugene Airport but had to be diverted to Portland International Airport due to heavy rain on the runway in Eugene, according to 247Sports' B.J. Rains. The plan was initially for the plane to refuel and head back down to Eugene from Portland, but the rain persisted, causing Boise State to get off the plane and instead bus down to Eugene.
The issues don't end there, as the buses aren't immediately ready for Boise State — they're coming from Eugene. Once they arrive in Portland, the Broncos will have potentially
a three-hour bus ride in front of them, as traffic on a Friday night will almost certainly be a factor on I-5.
Update: Boise State’s players and coaches are now getting off the plane in Portland and planning to bus down to Eugene, according to a source. It’s likely a 3-hour drive in this traffic.

Not ideal for anyone, especially with a 12:30pm local start time tomorrow. https://t.co/a9JJiqlRSf
As a result of the significant travel delays, the Broncos may not arrive to their team hotel until after 10 p.m.
That comes in addition to the Broncos switching time zones, as Boise is located in the Mountain Time Zone that is one hour ahead of the Pacific Time Zone. For a Boise State team attempting to pull off what would be one of the biggest upsets in college football this century, as they're 24.5-point underdogs, the delay and ensuing changes of plans is most certainly not ideal.
However, aside from the turf potentially being moist, rain isn't expected to be a factor come 12:30 p.m. PST when the Ducks and Broncos will face off, broadcast on CBS.
