After failing to lure in LeBron James in free agency and complete trades for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jaylen Brown and Kawhi Leonard, the Golden State Warriors may have their sights set on another star to pursue. According to New York Knicks insider Stefan Bondy, the Warriors are among the teams that could make space for Karl-Anthony Towns if he is made available by the defending champions.
Other teams listed by Bondy as potential suitors for Towns include the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets and Dallas Mavericks. Towns has two more seasons left under contract with New York but could become a free agent this summer if he declines his $61 million player option for the 2027-28 season.
A steady presence inside and an exceptional 3-point
shooter, Towns could be the best center to play under head coach Steve Kerr. The former No. 1 overall pick has made an All-Star appearance in three of the last four seasons. During the 2025-26 campaign, Towns averaged 20.1 points, 11.9 rebounds, three assists, 0.9 steals and 0.5 blocks. For his career, the former Kentucky Wildcat has shot 52.2% from the field and 39.7% from beyond the arc.
