After earning their first win of the 2026-27 preseason against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Golden State Warriors are set to face the Trail Blazers in Portland Wednesday, Oct. 7, on the second night of a back-to-back. Unfortunately for Warriors fans in attendance, most of Golden State's notable players won't be making the trip.
According to NBA insider Dalton Johnson, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Yaxel Lendeborg, Al Horford, Brandin Podziemski, De'Anthony Melton, Gui Santos, Georges Niang and Gary Payton II will not travel with the team to Portland. Considering the Warriors have three players sidelined due to injury (Jimmy Butler III, Moses Moody and Kristaps Porzingis), the team will be down to just nine active players for Wednesday's game.
This will give Golden State fans an extended look at summer league standout Graham Ike, as well as recent free agent signee Brandon Williams.
However, considering the Warriors' strenuous six-game preseason schedule, as opposed to many teams who play four games, it's worth questioning whether Golden State could have optimized their schedule better, either playing fewer games or avoiding back-to-backs completely.
