Following a mediocre offseason period, the Golden State Warriors have shifted their focus to extending former two-time league MVP Stephen Curry. After locking down head coach Steve Kerr for two more seasons, the Warriors front office is eager to extend the Davidson alum until he decides to retire.

Since becoming eligible for a one or two-year max contract extension Saturday, Curry spoke to the media for the first time about a new contract. “Extension stuff, we’ll figure that out at the right time. But I’m ready for Year 18,” Curry told NBA insider Dalton Johnson. To this point, Curry has spent all 17 years of his career with the Warriors, averaging 26.6 points, 4.7 assists, 3.6 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 0.4 blocks in 43 games during the 2025-26

season. If Curry were to extend for at least one more year, he'd become the sixth player to play 19 seasons for one franchise, joining Kobe Bryant (Lakers), Tim Duncan (Spurs), Dirk Nowitzki (Mavericks), John Stockton (Jazz) and Udonis Haslem (Heat).
