Brandin Podziemski had a rough shooting night for the Golden State Warriors in their 101-104 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, Oct. 4. Podziemski went 2-for-10 from the field, as most of the Warriors' roster spent the game trying to find their range. Yet, despite the Warriors' loss and Podziemski's poor shooting, the coaching staff will undoubtedly be pleased with the increased aggression and decisiveness he displayed throughout the game.
This summer, the discussion around Podziemski's development has centered on his willingness to take more threes and be more aggressive when looking for his shot. However, that won't be the only thing Podziemski has been working on this summer, as he continues to refine his game and look for areas to improve.
Speaking to the media after Golden State's preseason defeat, Stephen Curry shared what he's seen from Podziemski during training camp and the areas of growth that he's noticed.
"Same player, same talent," Curry said. "He looks like he's in better shape. He looks a little stronger, a little quicker. And then it's about putting all those skill sets together and making him be decisive on the court when he's out there. Shooting the shots he knows he's supposed to shoot, not turning down threes if he's open, making the right play. I know he's very determined. I know I talked to him during camp, and he said he had a great summer of making sure his body was right... He's obviously had a great camp, especially offensively. I want that to continue."
Podziemski projects to have a sizeable role for the Warriors this season. He'll likely be part of Kerr's starting rotation and tasked with being a connective piece on both ends of the floor. Golden State will likely hope he can up his decisiveness on offense and continue to remain healthy; then, if his development continues to trend upward, his role could scale as the season goes on.
