Golden State Warriors insider Anthony Slater provided another update on Jimmy Butler III's recovery process, indicating a new potential return date. "A return in January or February can be considered an optimistic target, but there are plenty of checkpoints ahead before getting that clearance. The Warriors' lead medical decision-maker, Rick Celebrini, is noted for a cautious approach," Slater wrote
.This timeline is a bit later than initial reports suggested, with those declaring Christmas Day as a return date. However, if Butler III were to return in January, it would mark a full year since his injury, a reasonable amount of time for a cautious recovery process. Considering the role he's expected to play on the team when healthy, Golden State
isn't likely to rush him or his teammate Moses Moody.
Until Butler III is able to return, expect both Kristaps Porzingis and Brandin Podziemski to have more offensive responsibilities behind former two-time MVP Stephen Curry.
