Throughout the offseason, former Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson expressed
his desire to play for a contender in the final stages of his career. After leaving some money on the table in a buyout negotiation, Thompson got his wish, as he now intends to join the Miami Heat. This will be the first time in his career that Thompson plays for an Eastern Conference team, but his move to Miami will also mark a reunion of sorts. There he'll join one of his former Warriors teammates, Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins was a vital part of Golden State's 2021-22 NBA championship, making his lone All-Star appearance that season. In five and a half seasons with the Warriors, Wiggins averaged 16.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.8 blocks.
Now with Miami, both Thompson and Wiggins will try to add to their trophy case outside of Golden State with another NBA championship.
