Throughout Stephen Curry's career with the Golden State Warriors, players from around the NBA have discussed how difficult the superstar sharpshooter is to guard. Curry's off-ball movement has given defenders headaches for over a decade, leading to countless discussions about how you can stop or even contain him once he gets hot.
During a recent appearance on "The Crew Has It" podcast, New York Knicks guard Deuce McBride shared his own thoughts on what it's like trying to deal with Curry.
“For me, it’s Steph. He never stops running. But on top of that, he always plays smart,” McBride said. “So he keeps you constantly under pressure because you never really know what he’s going to do.”
McBride then continued by explaining how Curry's diverse skill
set makes him an even tougher cover, especially due to his ability to get shots off from anywhere, both off the dribble and off the catch.
“He can fake a shot, pass, cut, pop back out… You never know if he’s just serving as a decoy or if the ball is really coming back to him. And you can see in the way he plays that he wants to win. Plus, he’s physically strong. He might not look it, but his balance and strength… One time, I tried to push him, and he didn’t budge at all. I said to myself: ‘Oh yeah…'”
Curry is heading into the 2026-27 season off the back of an injury-hit campaign where he struggled with knee issues. The fanbase will undoubtedly hope that those issues are in the past; however, given Curry's age, it's likely the coaching staff will keep a close eye on his minutes. Still, if he's healthy, every guard in the league will be preparing for a tough night when they're forced to match up with Golden State's superstar guard.
