Magnus Carlsen, a grandmaster and the No. 1 ranked chess player in the world for the last 15+ years, recently linked up with an NBA superstar, Giannis Antetokunmpo. During their meeting, Antetokounmpo was curious to know about Carlsen's favorite basketball team, suspecting that it may be the New York Knicks.
In a video posted to social media, Carlsen admitted that he's a supporter of the Golden State Warriors, noting that he began watching the sport during Stephen Curry's most dominant stretch. Carlsen also revealed to Antetokounmpo that he was hopeful the Greek forward would land in the Bay Area after reading many rumors this summer and at last February's trade deadline.
Unfortunately for Carlsen and many other Warriors fans, Golden State didn't
have enough young assets to pair with draft capital in a potential deal for Antetokounmpo, and he wound up in Miami instead.
