A former Golden State point guard recently declared his desire to see Stephen Curry leave the Warriors. Former All-Star point guard D'Angelo Russell revealed that he'd prefer the former two-time MVP joined Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics.
“I would love to see Stephen Curry go to Boston," Russell commented on "The Backyard Podcast." "Yeah, I would love to see that. I just think he needs that type of help around him now."
Russell, an 11-year NBA veteran had a brief stop in the Bay Area, playing in 33 games and averaging a career-best mark of 23.6 points, his highest output between all five teams he's played for. However, he was dealt to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a midseason trade. The trade, one of the more underrated moves in recent team history
netted Golden State Andrew Wiggins, who turned out to be a valuable part of their 2021-22 championship, a first-round pick and a second-round selection.
While Curry on the Celtics would certainly be intriguing, the possibility seems highly unlikely at the moment. Chances are, Curry will retire with the Warriors. On the off-chance he were to switch teams, many expect his hometown team, the Charlotte Hornets, to be the most realistic option.
