The Golden State Warriors are exploring the trade market much earlier in the season than anyone expected. According to ESPN, the Warriors are beginning to explore the trade market for Kristaps Porzingis, who missed Golden State's entire training camp and preseason due to an autoimmune condition. Charania also noted that Porzingis, a 10-year veteran and one-time All-Star, is seriously considering retirement from the NBA.
Given that the Warriors have two of their main contributors sidelined anyway due to injury (Moses Moody and Jimmy Butler III), Golden State appears eager to find reinforcements. Porzingis, who recently signed a two-year $40 million extension this summer, is making $20 million during the 2026-27 season. That said, of his $20 million salary
for the 2027-28 campaign, only $3 million of it is guaranteed.
In the meantime, the Warriors will open their season against the Los Angeles Lakers Wednesday night, with Brandin Podziemski sidelined.
