While it's clear that trading away Robert Parish was the worst trade in Golden State Warriors franchise history, which trade was the best? This is a bit unclear, as a few different trades standout as significant moments for the franchise.
Three of the best trades made in Golden State Warriors franchise history
Beginning with a move that flies under the radar, the Warriors traded Speedy Claxton and Dale Davis to the New Orleans Hornets for Baron Davis. Davis was a pivotal piece in the "We Believe" Warriors following the trade and even finished top-15 in MVP voting during the 2006-07 season, averaging 20.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 8.1 assists, 2.1 steals and 0.5 blocks. A 35-year-old at the time, Dale Davis played just two more seasons after the trade. As for Claxton, he played three more NBA seasons before his career
was derailed due to injury.
Another move that is hard to measure due to the intangibles he offered the franchise is Golden State's trade for Andre Iguodala. The Warriors acquired Iguodala in the summer of 2013 for a package that included Brandon Rush, Richard Jefferson, Andres Biedrins, two second-round picks and two first-round picks. After one season in Utah, Rush would end up back on the Warriors anyway, joining the team for two more seasons. As for Iguodala's impact, he helped the team win four NBA championships while being one of the league's strongest sixth men. He also became a key figure in the 2014-15 NBA Finals, winning NBA Finals MVP.
Lastly, and likely the best trade in franchise history, the Warriors sent Brandan Wright and Dan Gadzuirc to the New Jersey Nets in exchange for Troy Murphy and a 2012 second-round pick. Murphy ended up being bought out, while Wright and Gadzuric never panned out to be more than bench players during their careers. However, the 2012 second-round pick was used on four-time NBA champion and future Hall of Famer Draymond Green, who was an instrumental piece for the franchise and still is today. Considering Green's accomplishments and the fact that he's still with Golden State, this move takes the cake as the greatest trade in franchise history to this point.
