Stephen Curry's long-term future with the Golden State Warriors has been a hot topic all summer. The superstar point guard is entering into a one-year extension worth $62.5 million and will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2026-27 season. Both Curry and the Warriors have spoken of a willingness to discuss another contract to keep Curry in the Bay Area.
Unfortunately for Warriors fans, those contract discussions are yet to yield any results, as Curry prepares to start the upcoming campaign without an extension in place. Nevertheless, Curry doesn't appear fazed by his contract situation and has repeatedly reiterated his desire to remain with the Warriors for the final chapter of his career.
During a recent visit to Oakland’s Madison
Park Elementary, Curry addressed his contract situation before noting that he isn't "going anywhere."
“This is a very unique situation, and I’ve been pretty straightforward and honest about it,” Curry said, via the San Jose Mercury News. “I’m not going anywhere.”
Curry, 38, struggled with a persistent knee issue last season. As such, he may find himself operating on a minutes restriction throughout the upcoming campaign, as the coaching staff look to manage his health and keep him fresh for the postseason. Still, there's no denying that Curry is still among the best offensive talents in the NBA, and for that reason, the Warriors will undoubtedly look to keep him around for as long as possible.
Neither side appears to be concerned that a new deal hasn't been signed yet.
