Before stepping foot on the court together for the first practice of training camp for the 2026-27 season, the Golden State Warriors were dealt tough injury news regarding one of their projected key contributors for the upcoming campaign.
When speaking at media day on Monday morning at Chase Center, Golden State GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. announced Kristaps Porzingis will be out indefinitely with a "health issue." Dunleavy Jr. told reporters the veteran big man won't travel with the team for training camp in Hawaii. Dunleavy said Porzingis was fully cleared and on the court last week. However, a health issue will now rule him out indefinitely.

Mike Dunleavy said Kristaps Porzingis was on the court last week and fully cleared, but Dunleavy was informed that Porzingis was dealing with a health issue yesterday. Porzingis won't make the trip to Hawaii. Out indefinitely.

Porzingis has dealt with a flurry of different injuries throughout his career, including a torn ACL, and most recently Achilles tendonitis. Last season, Porzingis appeared in 32 games, 17 with the Atlanta Hawks and 15 with the Golden State Warriors after being traded. In the summer, Porzingis signed a two-year, $40 million contract to remain with the Warriors.
To start training camp, the Warriors will have a thin rotation in the frontcourt without Porzingis. Draymond Green, Al Horford, Gui Santos, Charles Bassey and rookie Yaxel Lendeborg will likely heavily feature in Golden State's frontcourt rotation while Porzingis is ruled out.
