Early into his NBA career, recent No. 11 overall pick Yaxel Lendeborg has earned the respect of his teammates and his coaches. Ahead of training camp, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr discussed Lendeborg and his tireless work ethic during his first NBA offseason.
"I just like his journey. He's had to fight for everything. He won a national championship last year. He's been through a lot in his life, and he's in here every day. During the last month, a lot of our young guys have been around, and I've literally had three different conversations with him, telling him to get out of here for a few days," said Kerr.
"He just can't stay out of the gym; he wants to be great."
Having just turned 24 years old, Lendeborg has a unique opportunity
with Golden State, as one of the more polished prospects in the 2026 class. For that reason, and considering the Warriors' playoff aspirations, the former Michigan Wolverine has a chance to carve out a significant role with his new team. During his final season with Michigan, Lendeborg averaged 15.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks.
