After ranking No. 17 in defensive rating during the 2025-26 season, the Golden State Warriors are eager to improve their defense with newly hired assistant coach Frank Vogel leading the charge. A former NBA champion as a head coach, Vogel is more than capable of transforming Golden State's identity on the defensive side of the ball.
During training camp, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr spoke about this, saying, "Frank is running the defense, obviously, so we're using some of his transition defensive drills, some of his rebounding drills."
"Frank is awesome. He's a great, great coach, and he's doing a really good job getting these guys organized, giving them kind of the expectations for how we're going to defend, our terminology, and I'm very confident
we're going to have a good defense," Kerr continued.
Considering Golden State's 3-point shooting prowess, having led the league in 3-point attempts and finished second in made 3-pointers a season ago, the Warriors can find another gear offensively if their defense translates into wide-open perimeter jumpers in transition.
