Former Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson reached a buyout agreement with the Dallas Mavericks earlier this summer and eventually joined the Miami Heat

as a free agent. In Miami, Thompson joined one of his former Warriors teammates, Andrew Wiggins. Both Wiggins and Thompson were a part of Golden State's 2021-22 championship team, with Wiggins making an All-Star appearance for the Warriors that year.

Following Thompson's arrival in South Beach, Wiggins voiced his excitement about the reunion. “He’s one of the most competitive people I played with. To have him on the squad is going to be amazing," said Wiggins. "He’s one of one. He brings that championship mentality to the team, and this is a year that we can do something special and he’s

someone that can be a big part of it.”

If he were able to help the Heat to a championship, Thompson would earn his fifth NBA title, breaking a tie between him and his former teammates: Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. As for Wiggins, the former No. 1 overall pick, another title would be the second of his career.
