Brooklyn Nets guard Egor Demin showcased how much he has worked on himself and his game over the course of this offseason's summer circuit after a better-than-expected rookie season. Brooklyn made various moves this summer to give the team a better chance of winning games next season, but Demin has to be one of the players that steps up if that goal is to be achieved.
With the offseason slowing down prior to training camps across the NBA starting in late September, this seems to be the time of the calendar when projections are made for next season. Basketball Reference has player projections available for the 2026-27 campaign and for Demin, it seems that the website is anticipating the former BYU Cougar to have a season similar to last season.
As NetsKingdom posted on X, Basketball Reference projects Demin to average 15.5 points, 4.9 rebounds 4.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 42.3% from the field and 39.8% from behind the three-point line. It should be noted that these projections are per 36 minutes so if head coach Jordi Fernandez doesn't play him an average of 36 minutes per night next season, his stats will be less impressive than the projections.
Last season, Demin averaged 10.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game in 25.2 minutes per game, translating to 14.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per contest in 36 minutes. Essentially, Demin is projected to be slightly better than he was last season, but Brooklyn is likely hoping that he can take a step further than that with the team looking to beat the odds in terms of its win-loss expectations.
Demin, 20, averaged 21.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 47.3% from the floor and 28.9% from three-point land in five games played between the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer League. If Basketball Reference is any indication, Demin should be just as good as he was last season, but his play in the summer league seems to indicate that he'll be evem better than that.
