The Brooklyn Nets are a few weeks away from their training camp that will be their preparation for the upcoming 2026-27 NBA season that they hope will be better than last year. Brooklyn has most of its roster set for next season after trading for Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle, but the Nets are adding another player into the mix to have a complete roster moving forward.
The Nets announced on Friday that they have signed forward Grant Nelson to a Two-Way contract, bringing the roster to 18 players with camp beginning later this month. Once the regular season comes around, Brooklyn, along with every other NBA team, is allowed to have 15 players on standard contracts and three players on Two-Way deals, with Nelson taking the third
and final spot.
Nelson, 24, is coming off a 2025-26 season in which he played four games for the Nets at the NBA level, but he had some bright moments over the course of those appearances. Nelson spent 23 games with the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn's G League afiliate, and he averaged 11.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 54.9% from the field and 82.6% from the free-throw line.
Nelson, along with forwards Chaney Johnson and Tyler Bilodeau, will be the third Two-Way player for Brooklyn heading into next season, likely meaning that he will spend most of his time in the G League. If the Nets experience a similar season to last year, players like Nelson could see more playing time if the team shifts to playing some of the younger players or has to deal with multiple injuries at once.
