Brooklyn Nets guard Egor Demin left many around the NBA wondering what would be the next step for him after a solid rookie season where he shot the lights out from behind the three-point line. With Brooklyn still in the midst of its rebuild, it's likely hoping for players like Demin to find their footing in the league, but is he is poised for a breakout sophomore season?
"Also got to see Brooklyn’s star prospect Egor Demin. I’ve seen Egor work out a couple times this summer and he looks like a man on a mission," Albert Ghim, Director of Communications for No Ceilings, wrote in a post Wednesday on X. Demin appears to be one of the more intriguing players in the 2025 NBA Draft class given how he looked this summer compared to his rookie year.

been grinding in the gym, tightening his handle, and further improving his shooting mechanics," Ghim continued in his X post. "Egor has been lights out in every workout I’ve watched and has made it known to me that he wants to develop into a real leader and get the Nets back to winning basketball."
Demin, 20, is coming off a 2025-26 season in which he averaged 10.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 39.9% from the field and 38.5% from three-point land. However, in five games played between the California Classic and the Las Vegas Summer League this offseason, Demin stepped his game up to the tune of 21.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.8 steals per contest while shooting 47.3% from the floor and 28.9% from deep.
Demin heads into a 2026-27 season where forwards Michael Porter Jr. and Julius Randle will be the leaders of the offense, but the former BYU Cougar could find it easier to score with Porter and Randle drawing defensive attention. Demin showed some interesting aspects of his game this summer thanks to his improved strength and confidence and it seems that others around the NBA are taking notice.
