Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. is just a couple or weeks away from officially beginning the 2026-27 NBA season with Media Day and training camp as he anticipates potentially making the All-Star team for the first time. Brooklyn is hoping that pairing Porter with Minnesota Timberwolves
forward Julius Randle will lead to more winning and Porter seems to feel confident in his partnership with Randle."He can draw a double team. He can get downhill, draw a double team, and then like swing it to me. I can shoot the three," Porter said of Randle while talking to streamer/content creator N3on. During this livestream, Porter touched on a variety of topics and one of those talking points was how he sees himself fitting on the court next to a versatile
veteran like Randle.
"I think if we get that chemistry right, all of our young guys from last year got so much better, bro. I don't know what the expectations are for our team, but we're gonna definitely surpass them," Porter continued. N3on followed up by asking Porter if the Nets would win at least 50 games this upcoming season to which Porter said "yeah, I do" in almost a matter-of-fact answer.
Porter, 28, is coming off a 2025-26 season in which he averaged 24.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 46.3% from the field and 36.3% from behind the three-point line. Randle, 31, is coming off a solid season of his own as he averaged 21.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game while shooting 48.1% from the floor and 31.5% from deep in 79 games played for the Timberwolves.
While Porter is understandably optimistic about how his team will perform this upcoming season, people/outlets around the league aren't nearly as confident in the Nets' ability to win games. For example, various outlets and BetMGM have predicted Brooklyn to win somewhere between 20-30 games, but Nets fans will likely be encouraged by how much Porter believes in his partnership with Randle and how that'll factor into Brooklyn's potential.
