The Brooklyn Nets have played two of their four preseason games prior to Monday's game at the Washington Wizards to continue their preseason slate in preparation for the 2026-27 NBA season. Brooklyn has been using training camp and the preseason to figure out what their roster will look like for this regular season and it looks like they're still making moves along the way.
The Nets announced on Sunday that they have requested waivers on guard Dion Brown and center Dain Dainja as they continue to navigate their way through the preseason. Dainja had been on the roster since camp began as he was one of the players that was fighting for a roster spot while Brown was recently added to the roster via an Exhibit 10 deal, but it seems that the Nets quickly
changed their minds on that.
Dainja, 24, spent the 2025-26 season with the Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) after going undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft following his senior season at the University of Memphis. Dainja played for Brooklyn's summer league team this offseason and after his performance during the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer League, the Nets decided to bring him into camp for further evaluation.
Brown, 23, went undrafted in the 2026 NBA Draft after a college career that took him from UMBC to Boston College and to the University of Saint Louis for his senior campaign. Brown, similar to Dainja, played for the Nets' summer league team and while he wasn't added to the camp roster initially, it seems that the team had some interest in him before they recently waived him.
As of now, it seems that forward Ben Humrichous is the only player left that isn't on the active roster that is still remaining, but it could be a matter of time before he is waived and likely playing for the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn's G League afiliate. As mentioned earlier, the Nets have two preseason games remaining against the Wizards and Miami Heat so there could be more evaluation time for someone like Humrichous before the preseason ends.
