The Brooklyn Nets are one day away from their Media Day and two days away from the beginning of their NBA training camp in preparation for the 2026-27 season. Brooklyn has made various additions to the roster over the course of this offseason and the stage is set for those players to compete, but the Nets are still adjusting their roster prior to camp.
The Nets announced on Sunday that they waived forward Nick Pringle, less than one week after signing him to a contract, presumably one that covered camp at the most. When Brooklyn initially announced that they signed Pringle on Sep. 21, the team also signed and waived DJ Rodman and Aaron Scott ahead of camp, implying that the team was trying to figure out who would be representing the team at the G
League level as well.
While these moves could be unrelated, the Nets did sign Ben Humrichous and Dain Dainja to contracts while not providing any details on what those deals were. As of this writing, there isn't an official count on how many players Brooklyn has signed to training camp deals given that the official camp roster hasn't been released yet, but NBA teams can have 18 players on the roster at the most (15 standard contracts, 3 Two-Way deals).
Pringle, 24, spent six years playing college basketball as he began his career at Wofford before making stops at Dodge City Community College, Alabama, and South Carolina prior to playing his final year for the Razorbacks under head coach John Calipari. Pringle had the best season of his college career during the 2024-25 season when he averaged 9.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 57.2% from the field for the Gamecocks.
Time will tell if the Nets waiving Pringle means that he will be playing for the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn's G League team, but this could pave the way for him to get started in that direction. There will be plenty of storylines for Nets fans to watch out for as Brooklyn looks to have a significantly better season that they did in 2025-26 and it's possible that Pringle could be a part of that in some way despite his release.
