The Brooklyn Nets are just a few days away from officially beginning their preparations for the upcoming 2026-27 NBA season that they hope will be better than the previous campaign. Brooklyn came into the 2026 NBA offseason with the goal of improving the roster as much as possible following a 2025-26 season where they finished with a lowly 20-62 record.
With the Nets still in the midst of their rebuild, they will be looking to win as many games as possible while monitoring the development of the younger players on the team at the same time. Brooklyn made various moves this season, including trading for former Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle, and Monday's Media Day will give the media a chance to meet with all of the players to discuss
the upcoming season.
Randle, along with sharpshooting forward Michael Porter Jr., will be one of the leaders of the team to begin the season given his recent production and veteran status, but other players will factor into the daily operation of the team as well. Guard Egor Demin will likely retain his role as one of the starting guards with Brooklyn's fanbase wondering how much of his summer league performance will carry over into this upcoming season.
Whichever way training camp and the preseason goes, the Nets will likely have three new starters with Randle, Day'Ron Sharpe starting at center, and Mikel Brown Jr. likely being the starting point guard. Assuming that starting lineup takes place, the Nets will have four members of its 2025 NBA Draft class coming off the bench with many wondering what Nolan Traore, Drake Powell, Ben Saraf, and Danny Wolf will look like in their second seasons.
The Nets will hold Media Day on Monday with training camp beginning the next day and happening until Oct. 5, the day before they begin their preseason slate with a matchup at the Charlotte Hornets. Head coach Jordi Fernandez and general manager Sean Marks will have plenty of questions to answer as the duo enter their third season together, especially with some of the talk being when Brooklyn will finally be on the other side of this rebuild.
