Brooklyn Nets guard Egor Demin is coming off a rookie season in which he showed that he had the ability to be one of the better three-point shooters in the NBA from the outset. Brooklyn was able to rely on Demin as a shooter and facilitator, but he's heading into his second season in the league with the goal of taking a significant leap compared to his first.
"He is absolutely locked in, laser-focused man on a mission. He is so hard and ferocious on himself," No Ceilings' Albert Ghim said of Demin during a recent podcast with Corey Tulaba. Demin has spoken numerous times about the work that he's putting in on and off the court and it seemed like that work paid off during his time in the summer circuit this offseason.
"He's working out with Zach
[Gonzales, his personal trainer] in the morning, he's playing in the pro runs at the new NBPA facility in Playa Vista, he's [lifting weights], he's doing extra workouts at night when possible, he's going so hard like truly a man on a mission, and this is a guy who clearly knows where he needs to continue to grow," Ghim continued on Demin.
Demin, 20, averaged 21.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 47.3% from the field and 28.9% from behind the three-point line across the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer League. Demin is in a position to be one of the starting guards for head coach Jordi Fernandez, but he will have to continue improving if the Nets are going to win more games than expected.
Brooklyn traded for former Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle to make things easier for Demin and forward Michael Porter Jr., but there is still work to do for the entire team. From the way Ghim tells it, Demin is taking that to heart and has been working on every facet of his game so that he can be the player Brooklyn believed him to be when they took him with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
