The Brooklyn Nets have signed, drafted, and traded for players from virtually every state in the US, and much of the wider world beyond the United States. From Alabama to Wyoming, and from Australia to Ukraine, the Nets have a long and distinguished history of turning over every stone to find the talent needed to succeed in the NBA.
From their start in the American Basketball Association (ABA) as the New Jersey Americans and New York Nets to their jump to the NBA as the New Jersey Nets right through to today, the organization has cast their net for talent wide since the inception of the ball club.
For this installment of our series documenting the provenience of every Nets player to suit up for the franchise, let's take a look at every player from
Alabama who has played for Brooklyn.

Our focus in this article is big man Derrick Coleman. An alum of Northern high school in Detroit, Michigan, he was picked up with the first overall selection of the 1990 NBA Draft by the (then) New Jersey (now, Brooklyn) Nets.
The Mobile, Alabama native played the first 5 seasons of his pro career with the Nets, coming to an end when he was dealt to the Philadelphia 76ers in 1995.
During his time suiting up for the Nets, Coleman put up 19.9 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.6 points per game.
