Brooklyn Nets forward Julius Randle surprisingly came to the Nets this offseason after the Minnesota Timberwolves decided to move in a different direction after making it to the Western Conference Semifinals. Brooklyn brought Randle in to improve the team's viability on both ends of the court and the veteran is not backing down from his belief that the Nets can shock the NBA world.
"Whatever your expectations are, whatever expectations that are put upon us, we’re gonna exceed them and we’re gonna do things at a very high level," Randle said of the Nets this season, according to Andrew Crane of the New York Post. Rookie guard Mikel Brown Jr., whom the Nets selected with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, revealed earlier this summer
that Randle's belief in the roster was to the utmost degree.
"We’re gonna build, come in with the right habits every single day, and we’re gonna do exactly that," Randle continued, per Crane, before addressing what it has been like to be around such a young team. "It was like, actually, kinda refreshing because it was like I lived here for five years but it felt like a fresh start. I was kinda like a newbie again."
Randle was hosting a back-to-school clinic at the Brooklyn Basketball Training Center on Saturday where school supplies were donated to 75 Brooklyn middle-school and high-school students. Randle, 31, is coming off another solid season as he averaged 21.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game while shooting 48.1% from the field and 31.5% from behind the three-point line.
Most pundits and outlets around the NBA project the Nets to win less 30 games this season despite the addition of Randle, but it seems like his confidence is unaffected by how others see the team. Randle has spoken on what he expects from his partnership with sharpshooting forward Michael Porter Jr. and now, he has doubled down on his belief that Brooklyn will surprise the league this season.
