The Brooklyn Nets can officially begin their preparations for the 2026-27 NBA season on Tuesday when training camp opens up and all of the players can take the floor for the first time. Brooklyn came into the 2026 offseason with the goal of improving the roster as much as possible and the Nets are likely hoping for a better season in terms of wins and losses.
Prior to Media Day on Monday, the Nets announced their roster for training camp as the team hopes to improve on the 20-62 record that they ended the 2025-26 campaign with. As almost Nets fan knows by this point, forwards Michael Porter Jr. and Julius Randle will be the leaders of one of the youngest rosters in the league as they approach another rebuilding season.
Heading into this upcoming
season, Porter and Randle won't be the only veterans on the roster as forward Terance Mann returns with Brooklyn adding guard Keon Ellis and center Mo Wagner in free-agency. Some of the younger players on the team include Egor Demin, Mikel Brown Jr., and Nolan Traore, among others, that will likely factor in the rotation this season.
While Porter and Randle will be doing their part to lead the team on the court, there will also be other players looking to make a contribution such as center Day'Ron Sharpe. Sharpe will likely be the starting center for the Nets for the first time in his career after Nic Claxton was traded to the Chicago Bulls this offseason while guard Mikel Brown Jr., whom the team selected with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, could be the starting point guard.
Some of the attention on the Nets this season will be focused on their five-man draft class from the 2025 NBA Draft as Drake Powell, Ben Saraf, and Danny Wolf are looking to prove themselves in their second year in the league. Head coach Jordi Fernandez and general manager Sean Marks are heading into their third season as a duo and governor Joe Tsai is likely hoping for the franchise to turn around as soon as possible.
