Former Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons has been dropping hints here and there over the past year or so that he was looking to continue his NBA career at some point. Brooklyn once had Simmons on their roster and while he wasn't able to reach his potential with the Nets, he hasn't let that discourage him from trying to continue his basketball journey.
"I wouldn’t change the story. The highs, the lows, the pain, the time, the lessons. I embrace all of it. Every chapter built something in me that I couldn’t have built any other way," Simmons wrote in an Instagram post with him making a pose with a basketball hoop in the background. Simmons last played in the NBA during the 2024-25 season with the Nets and Los Angeles Clippers, but he seems determined
to keep going.
"Grateful for where I’ve been. Proud of where I stand. Ready for wherever this goes," Simmons continued in his Instagram post. While Simmons is seemingly making it clear that he wants another shot to put on an NBA uniform, he still has to draw attention from teams that are looking for a player of his skillset while also being okay with the time off. There seems to be some teams showing interest in Simmons.
"NBA free agent forward Ben Simmons is expected to be a full participant with “zeros restrictions” in a player-led Aussie men’s national team mini-camp in Melbourne beginning Monday, sources to andscape," NBA insider Marc. J Spears wrote on Sunday. Spears did not specify which teams are interested in Simmons, but the reported did mention that one of those teams resides in the Western Conference.
Simmons, 30, currently has career averages of 13.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game while shooting 55.8% from the field and 13.9% from behind the three-point line. Simmons spent parts of three seasons with Brooklyn, but he posted averages of just 6.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game while shooting 56.2% from the floor despite dealing with various knee and back injuries.
