The Brooklyn Nets are less than one week away from their training camp beginning in which they will prepare for the upcoming 2026-27 NBA season that they hope will be a good campaign. Brooklyn has made some additions to the roster over the course of the offseason and while their roster is full, they are still making some interesting choices prior to camp starting.
The Nets announced on Wednesday that they signed forward Ben Humrichous and center Dain Dainja to contract, but they did not specify what kind of contracts they signed those players to. Given that Brooklyn already has 15 players under standard contracts and three players under Two-Way deals, Humrichous and Dainja were likely signed to training camp deals that could result in them playing
in the G League later this year.
Humrichous, 24, went undrafted in the 2026 NBA Draft, paving the way for him to prove himself as an NBA player during his time with the Nets in summer league play this offseason. In six games played for the Nets across the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer League, Humrichous averaged 6.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while shooting 36.1% from the field and 38.2% from behind the three-point line.
Dainja, 24, went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft and spent the 2025-26 campaign playing for the Edmonton Stingers in the Canadian Elite Basketball League before trying his hand with the Nets this summer. In seven games played with Brooklyn in the Classic and in Vegas, Dainja averaged 6.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while shooting 62.5% from the field and 44.4% from the free-throw line.
Humrichous and Dainja will get their chance to show what they look like against NBA talent over the course of camp, but they could also be playing for their next step, whether that's in the G League or with another team. With the Nets signing Humrichous and Dainja without there being news of them being immediately waived, these could be two players worth monitoring as the preseason progresses.
