On Saturday night, the USC football team defeated Louisiana 49-30 at the Coliseum. With the victory, the Trojans improved to 3-0 on the 2026 season.

As a result of the Trojans winning and several teams ranked ahead of them losing, USC moved up in the latest AP Poll, which was released on Sunday. The Trojans rose two spots, coming in at No. 12 in the rankings.

USC jumped ahead of Oregon—who suffered a stunning upset at the hands of Oklahoma State—Oklahoma—who fell on the road at Michigan—and Texas Tech—who won ugly against Oregon State. However, the Trojans were surpassed by BYU after the Cougars dominated Arizona.

Oregon’s loss certainly changes the dynamic of the Ducks’ trip to the Coliseum in two weeks. What was set to be a top 15 matchup will

now almost certainly not be, as Oregon fell 15 spots to No. 21 in the latest rankings. First, however, the Trojans must worry about this week’s Big Ten opener on the road at Rutgers.
