Given the ascent of former USC Trojan Caleb Williams, the Chicago Bears did not hesitate to do what was necessary to improve the team's chances of real success this season. The Bears sit at 5-2, and in light of their last two performances against impressive teams, the Bears look like a team that has a chance at a Super Bowl.
Caleb Williams showed last season that with a competent head coach and a solid roster built around him, he can be just a few plays away from making the NFC Championship Game. Given Caleb's performance in just four games this season, Bears general manager Ryan Poles knew it was time to go all in. Poles traded for the best defensive tackle in the NFL, former Tennessee Titan Jeffery Simmons.
The Bears gave up two first-round
draft picks over the next two years and a 4th-round draft pick. That is an expensive package to give up for a defensive player. You only do that when you have the utmost belief in your starting quarterback, and you feel like you're really close. That is exactly the confidence Caleb Williams has provided the Bears in a short amount of time.
The Chicago Bears were once a franchise where quarterbacks went to die. Now, since the Caleb Williams era has begun, this is a franchise whose outlook has been completely turned around into Super Bowl contenders. It is amazing to see what drafting the right quarterback can do for a franchise. Now, with Caleb Williams at quarterback and Jefferey Simmons on defense, the Chicago Bears are as dangerous as any team in the NFL.
