College football is back! And with it, that means another year of our Big Ten picks series. Each week of the season, we will be picking every game involving a Big Ten team (with the exception of games against FCS opponents).
We have now reached the second full week of the season, a week that features several massive nonconference matchups. What can we expect to see this week?
Boston College over Rutgers (Friday)
After what happened with Rutgers last week, the Scarlet Knights legitimately might not win a game this season.
Oregon over Oklahoma State
Not nearly as bad as Rutgers’s humiliation at the hands of UMass—but still quite embarrassing—was Oklahoma State getting handled by Tulsa last week. This one will not be close.
Oklahoma over Michigan
Unfortunately for the Wolverines, they will only get to play 60 minutes of football this
week.
Penn State over Temple
Penn State improves to 2-0 under Matt Campbell.
Wake Forest over Purdue
If you are a fan of dark gold and black, then this is the game for you.
Washington over Utah State
Washington might have offensive issues, but they will not cause any problems in this matchup.
Duke over Illinois
Last year, Duke lost to Illinois and went on to win the ACC. Neither of those things happens this year.
Minnesota over Mississippi State
The Big Ten gets its first win over the SEC of the season.
Michigan State over Eastern Michigan
A Michigan school from the Big Ten beating a directional Michigan school from the MAC. Should be easy, right?
Maryland over UConn
Maryland wins this year’s “this really should be a basketball game” matchup.
Nebraska over Bowling Green
Any school from the Big Ten beating any school from the MAC. Should be easy, right?
UCLA over San Diego State
UCLA winning two games in a row? As Lou Brown said in “Major League II”, “It’s called a winning streak. It has happened before.”
Ohio State over Texas
The Buckeyes winning game of the week in college football? Alright, alright, alright.
Iowa over Iowa State
The Hawkeyes regain bragging rights over the state of Iowa.
USC over Louisiana
The Trojans wrap up nonconference play 3-0.
