One of the best things in college football is seeing a quarterback who fully trusts one of his receivers. That synergy and connection can be very dangerous for opponents. Last season, that could be said about Jayden Maiava with Makai Lemon and Ja'Kobi Lane. This season, Jayden Maiava appears to have that same type of connection with a freshman, Trent Mosley.
To have your first college performance result in 7 catches, 118 yards, and a touchdown is a dream-case scenario that would be seen as just a coincidence. However, to follow that up with another 100-yard performance off just 4 catches and find the end zone twice, that is superstar territory. That is what Trent Mosley is. My hot take of the week heading into Week 2 is that Trent Mosley will
have 1,000 yards receiving this season.
Trent Mosley has quickly become one of the most exciting players in college football. He has been getting compared to the likes of Makai Lemon and Amon-Ra St. Brown. He is keeping the legacy of the Trojans alive, a program that breeds receivers extremely well.
Mosley is a freshman, but he is very mature with his route running, and his skills are on another level. His speed is game-changing, and he has great pure receiver skills. Combine that with his ability to force missed tackles with power and finish, and you have a dangerous receiver on your hands.
He is a weapon, and so far Jayden Maiava is ecstatic to have him at his disposal. That will be a trend that will continue all season long. Maiava will target him every game multiple times, and Mosley will make multiple plays. The Trojan receiver who will eclipse 1000 yards this season will be Trent Mosley.
