Monday Night Football in Week 9 will be the battle of former USC Trojan quarterbacks. Sam Darnold is building confidence following his last win. Caleb Williams has played as well as any quarterback in the NFL.
Caleb Williams is the quarterback with a tougher matchup going against the Seattle Seahawks' elite defense. Sam Darnold, however, will have a tough battle trying to keep the football out of harm's way against the Chicago Bears' defense, which generates a high number of turnovers.
Caleb Williams will be facing the tougher defense, but I think he will have the best performance. He is playing at an extremely high level, and his confidence right now is dangerous for any defense he faces. He is playing on time and getting the football out quickly.
His improved play has turned the Bears offense into an even more dangerous unit.
The Bears' run game has been steady and not as dominant as usual. However, Caleb Williams has kept the Bears' offense elite, due to him being a more accurate quarterback. He has killed defenses in the pocket, and that has been refreshing for the Bears franchise to see.
The Bears have an offensive line that can give Caleb time against the Seahawks' dominant defensive line. The Seahawks' secondary is just as good, but there are too many playmakers on the Bears' offense to account for. This will be a good matchup, and I think the Bears come out on top because of how well Caleb Williams plays. I think Williams throws for 300 yards again and 2 touchdowns, outshining his fellow Trojan alum on the big stage.
The Bears' defense is not as good as Seattle's, but there is no defense better at getting turnovers. So far this season, Darnold has had an issue with interceptions, and that disappointing stat will increase after this game. The difference in quarterback play will mostly come down to Caleb making more of the right plays, while Sam Darnold makes too many costly mistakes.
