Writing about edge rusher Tito Chikere, CFN noted "There weren’t a ton of signings in the portal, and this one had better work for a defense that desperately needs a pass rushing terror. The 6-3, 247-pounder from East Texas A&M only made 1.5 sacks with 34 tackles last year, but he’s got the quickness and upside to grow into a playmaker behind the line."
The biggest concern for the Ragin' Cajuns, according to CFN: turnovers. "Louisiana played six games decided by a touchdown or fewer, and turnovers played a huge role," CFN wrote. "There will be more 50/50 games this year when turnover margin means everything – the team
lost three of them when it didn’t generate at least two takeaways."
On the transfer portal, CFN noted "There’s not a lot happening. The coaching staff folded in a slew of players throughout last year to get plenty of young players time, and overall, it was more of a developmental season. So what does the lack of transfers mean? Louisiana is good with what it’s got, because it didn’t lose a lot. There’s a plus side to this – there should be more continuity within the systems on both sides of the ball."One transfer to watch for Louisiana, per CFN: Jayce Mitchell, a guard from Tulane. "The Ragin’ Cajun running game could use more mashing people movers, and at the very least, the 6-3, 322-pound Mitchell brings the bulk."
The Ragin' Cajuns' biggest loss in the portal: offensive lineman Bryant Williams, who went to Arkansas. "The offensive line won’t be bad, but it needs to be better," CFN wrote, "and it needs to do it without a 6-7, 315-pound blocker who’ll be at one of the Arkansas tackle spots."
