On Saturday evening, the USC football team defeated Washington 25-21 at the Coliseum. With the victory, the Trojans improved to 5-1 on the season and 2-1 in Big Ten play.
On Monday, the conference announced its league honors for Week 5. For his performance against Washington, USC defensive lineman Luke Wafle was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
Wafle recorded five total tackles in the victory. Of those tackles, two went for a loss and one was a sack, the first of his college football career. The freshman standout now has 22 tackles on the season.
After taking down Washington, Wafle and the Trojans will now hit the road and head to Penn State for the Nittany Lions’ White Out game this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. Pacific time/7:30
p.m. Eastern time on NBC.
