The Chicago Bears produced a dominant offensive performance in Week 1 and looked like the best offense in the NFL. Former Trojan Caleb Williams and the Bears' offense looked like a completely different team against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2. Caleb could not find much of any success against Brian Flores, and a nightmare scenario occurred for him and the Bears. Caleb Williams was grimacing in pain with a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter.
Caleb Williams was under duress all game long as the Vikings' pass rush feasted on him and the Bears' offense. Prior to his injury, Caleb Williams was 15-for-26 and had 138 passing yards. He had 42 yards on the ground, showcasing his effectiveness on the ground. Not his best performance, and it was evident
that Brian Flores had all the answers for him and Ben Johnson.
Right when the Bears were finding momentum and driving down the field, down goes Caleb Williams. You could feel the emotion, and the stadium went silent as they saw their talented quarterback look in serious pain. There is current optimism that Caleb Williams will be dealing with just a hamstring.
Without Caleb Williams, even if it is the best-case scenario and he will miss just one game or two, this team did not give anyone any reason for confidence it can score at a high level with Tyson Bagent as the quarterback.
The one highlight of the day was the Bears' defense keeping this game in reach for the Bears' struggling offense. It is hard to ignore that the weather was a contributing factor to the low output of the offense. If the Bears cannot create offensive success without Caleb, and the defense looks like it did against Carolina, the Bears will be in big trouble.
