The NFC North is one of the best divisions in the NFL, and this season it is as wide open as it ever has been. Former Trojan Caleb Williams is down with an injury that could keep him sidelined for a few weeks. That could open the door for Minnesota to sit on the throne for a few weeks.
Here are my takeaways from Week 2 in the NFC North from each team:
(2-0) Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings, although they lost their starting quarterback, have still been the best team in the NFC North in the first two games. Their defense has been elite, and Carson Wentz has held down the fort on offense. If Kyler Murray can play well with the talent this team has. They will win the division.
(1-1) Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears got humbled in Week 2. The Bears' offense showed that it is not an unstoppable
freight train. It can be stopped, and it can be figured out. Ben Johnson will have to go back to the drawing board as he enters Week 3, potentially down two quarterbacks. No Caleb Williams for Chicago would be extremely tough for the Bears, but at least the Bears' defense built some confidence this past week. The Bears having Caleb go down and losing Minnesota does not derail the season just yet, and this team still has a chance at repeating as the NFC North champion.
(1-1) Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions defense got embarrassed on Thursday night in a tough loss against the Buffalo Bills. Josh Allen and the Bills offense could do no wrong. The Saints also had immense offensive success in Week 1. Tyler Shough threw for 410 yards passing. There is no Micah Parsons coming back for this defense. This defense will get some guys back, but the struggles in the secondary will not completely vanish. All season long, this team will have to outscore their opponent. Against the Bills, it was clear that is not a consistent winning formula.
(1-1) Green Bay Packers
The Packers got their first win of the season, but it may have been the least impressive win in Week 2. The Jets outplayed the Packers in every facet of the game. Green Bay's struggles have been evident, and not having both Josh Jacobs and Micah Parsons has made this team look less impressive. The Injuries keep piling up, as Jayden Reed just suffered a neck injury. Sitting at 1-1, the Packers look very far from being a contender.
Overview
The NFC North has no clear best team in the division just yet. There are four teams that, at some point in the season, can reveal themselves as the best team in this division. A lot of factors can come into play, but right now the NFC North is up for grabs, and any team can come and take it.
