On Saturday night, the USC football team upset No. 2 Ohio State 30-18. With the victory, the Trojans improved to 7-2 on the season and 4-2 in Big Ten play.
What did we learn from the game? Here are a few key takeaways:
Wow
Going into this week, the vibes around the USC program were really bad. So what did the Trojans do? They went out and upset the No. 2 team in the country. Plain and simple, almost no one saw this coming.
Where was this last week?
This was the complete opposite of last week’s disaster in Madison. As bad as the Trojans were last week against Wisconsin, they were equally good tonight.
Riley gets his signature victory
For nearly five years, USC fans had been waiting on Lincoln Riley to deliver a signature victory for the Trojans. Against Ohio State, he finally did just that.
USC was the better team
The most notable part
of this is that it was not some fluke win built on multiple turnovers or weird bounces of the ball. USC was genuinely the better football team on the field tonight.
Running it up
A week after rushing for negative 17 yards against Wisconsin, the Trojans were much better in that area against Ohio State. USC averaged 4.3 yards per carry and scored two touchdowns on the ground.
Up next
USC will enjoy a week off next week. The Trojans will then make their final Midwest road trip of the season when they head to Indiana on November 14.
