This week, the USC football team will play its first road game of the season when the Trojans open up Big Ten play at Rutgers. The following week, however, USC will return to the Coliseum for a massive showdown with West Coast foe Oregon.
We now know when that game will kick off. On Monday, it was announced that kickoff between the Trojans and the Ducks will be at 4:30 p.m. Pacific time on September 26. The game will be televised on NBC.
Oregon’s stunning loss at Oklahoma State this past Saturday certainly changes the dynamic of the meeting. What was set to be a top 15 matchup will now almost certainly not be, as Oregon fell 15 spots to No. 21 in the latest AP Poll.
Even so, this is still a massive game for the Trojans. After drawing scrutiny for low
attendance during the first two games of the season, USC fans will now get a prime time home game against a longtime foe that could very well determine the direction of the season. Plain and simple, there is zero excuse for this game not to be sold out.
Just as much as this is Lincoln Riley’s chance to prove those saying that he cannot beat Oregon wrong, this is USC fans’ chance to prove those saying that people in Los Angeles do not care about college football wrong. Get your tickets. Arrive early. Stay late. Be loud. It is time to show the rest of the country what a proper Coliseum atmosphere looks like.
