Watch list season in college football continues to roll along. Recently, USC quarterback Jayden Maiava and running back Waymond Jordan were named to the Maxwell Award Watch List. However, they were not the only Trojans to make the watch list for a notable award.
Last week, USC long snapper Dylan Black was named to the Patrick Mannelly Award Watch List. The award is presented annually to the top long snapper in the country.
Black transferred to USC from Oregon State this past offseason. He spent seven years with the Beavers, serving as the team's starting long snapper from 2020-2023. However, he appeared in just one game over the past two seasons. Apparently, he has an eighth year of eligibility, and will be spending it with the Trojans.
While it
is not a position that gets talked about very often, USC has actually had a really strong run of long snappers over the past decade. Damon Johnson started at the position from 2017-2021, Jac Casante in 2022 and 2023, and Hank Pepper for the last two seasons. Black will look to continue that legacy with the Trojans in 2026.
USC will kick off its 2026 season on August 29 at the Coliseum against San Jose State.
