This past weekend marked USC’s first off week of the 2026 season. However, there were a number of other Big Ten games on, including a showdown between the two most recent national champions.
So what did we learn from the games? Here are a few takeaways from Week 6 in the Big Ten:
Ohio State is the best team in the conference . . .
In a matchup of the last two national champions, Ohio State knocked off Indiana on the road. The Buckeyes have an elite defense, and look like the best team in the conference right now.
. . . but the Buckeyes might have a quarterback problem
That said, Buckeyes quarterback Julian Sayin did not look good at all in the win, and eventually exited the game with an injury. Ohio State has stars at nearly every other position, but are the Buckeyes good enough at quarterback to win a national championship?
The Bryce Underwood era at Michigan is over
Michigan finally benched the
former five-star quarterback in Saturday’s ugly win over Penn State. Right now, it feels inevitable that Underwood will enter the transfer portal this offseason and look for a fresh start elsewhere.
Northwestern is the most underrated team in the country
Don’t look now, but the Wildcats are quietly 5-1, with their only loss coming by six points on the road to defending national champion Indiana.
Maryland is officially the worst team in the conference
Saturday’s Big Ten Pillow Fight between Rutgers and Maryland answered a very important question: Who is the worst team in the conference? The answer? The Terrapins!
