Last year, USC hired Trovon Reed from UCF as its new cornerbacks coach. After coaching under defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn in 2025, Reed is now getting set for his second season with the Trojans, this time with a new DC in Gary Patterson.
One of the corners that Reed will be coaching this fall is Prophet Brown, who is entering his sixth and final year at USC. In a recent interview with 247Sports, Reed discussed his relationship with Brown.
“I’m a Prophet fan,” Reed said. “I'm probably Prophet's No. 1 fan. I love everything about that young man. He's a guy that you wish you could coach forever. He tries to do everything exactly how you say it. If I say 'Prophet, I want you to run to that tree. Touch it with one finger, touch your forehead.'
He's gonna run to the tree. He's gonna do whatever you ask him to do, and you don't want it any other way. He's so respectful. He's the definition of a USC man, honestly.”
As previously mentioned, Brown has been at USC for quite some time. He is the only remaining player on the Trojans’ 2026 roster to have played for previous head coach Clay Helton. Based on Reed’s comments, it seems as though Brown is extremely well-respected in the locker room, and will look to take on a leadership role for USC this fall.
