The Charlotte Hornets added another Duke alum this offseason, pairing Grayson Allen with two former Blue Devils entering their second season, Kon Knueppel and Sion James.
Following Allen's arrival to Charlotte, one of his new teammates and rival alumni, Coby White (UNC), recently gave praise to the 2014-15 NCAA Champion and four-year Duke forward.
“The one thing I’ve always noticed about G.A. (Grayson Allen) is his ability to impact winning,” White told the Charlotte Observer. “Everywhere he’s gone, he’s won. Whether it’s Milwaukee, he’s been a winner everywhere he goes. He’s been part of a winning culture. He’s been part of a winning organization. So I think first and foremost, he knows what winning looks like, and he knows what it takes to win at this
level."
This was high praise coming from a former Tar Heel in White, as he seems eager to suit up with his new teammate ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. Although Allen has yet to win an NBA championship, as White mentioned, he's been on his fair share of winning teams, having finished first place in the Eastern Conference with the Bucks during the 2022-23 season.
White and Allen never faced each other at the collegiate level, as White's first season with UNC (2018-19), was during Allen's rookie year in the NBA.
